The 2011 Five stays true to its roots as a low slung, fast handling trail whippet which can play gently in the Dales or storm a black run. The mix of Monocoque construction and custom butted 6061-T6 Reynolds tubes keep weight down with a new tapered headtube adding stiffness. A 30.9 mm seat-tube adds compatibility for more ‘dropper’ seat-posts and we’ve added ISCG mounts for securely fitting a chain device. The same single pivot position continues to keep the suspension balanced between sensitivity and efficiency with the bearing system promoting stiffness and reliability. The Five has already become a classic, and it just got better.

Bottom Bracket:

Hope Stainless Bottom Bracket: The machined aluminium cups with full stainless steel cartridge bearings. Custom, Swiss made bearings are double sealed, fully serviceable and removable. Using a non contact, free running labyrinth seal to protect the bearing externally, and the machined aluminium centre tube is sealed internally with o-rings this bottom bracket has a greater life span than stock units. Weighing in at 113g

Disc Brakes:

Hope Tech X2 is the perfect lightweight brake system. Ambidextrous ‘flip flop’ design, CNC machined from a solid billet of 2014-T6 aluminium alloy. Redesigned piston, lever and pivot assembly with external ‘on the fly’ reach and bite point adjustment dials. The new lever linkage eliminates freeplay in the lever giving a consistent and reliable feel to the brake. Bearing lever pivots give smooth, rock free action. A perforated lever gives extra grip and feel. Also, a double sided reservoir lid makes for easy bleeding.

Latest one piece caliper, CNC machined from a solid billet of 2014 T6 aircraft spec aluminium alloy. Durable anodised finish to withstand weather, cleaning and general trail use and laser etched graphics. A Goodridge stainless braided hose is fitted as standard to give a sharp, solid feel to the system.

The option comes with 183 or 160 mm disc rotors

The Hope Tech M4 Brake: Features the latest CNC caliper and brilliant Tech lever, the M4 offers All-Mountain and Trail riders the power and adjustability they need.

Ambidextrous ‘flip flop’ design, CNC machined from a solid billet of 2014 T6 aluminium alloy - with a split clamp to allow easy set up and choice of positioning.

Redesigned piston, lever and pivot assembly with external ‘on the fly’ reach and bite point adjustment dials. The new lever linkage eliminates freeplay in the lever giving a consistent and reliable feel to the brake.

Further developments include bearing lever pivots for smooth, rock free use and increased lever ergonomics with a perforated lever for extra grip and feel.

The Hope Race X2 comes in under 300grams with a 6-bolt lightweight floating rotor. The revised master cylinder and refined CNC machining keeps the system looking pimp with aluminium lever blades and reservoir caps keeping it trail tough. Alloy clamp bolts and pad backplates combine with titanium bolts on the caliper and mounts to keep the system light and manage the heat. Stylish race-weight anchors with trail happy bite.

Hope Hubs:

The Hope Pro II Hubs include a further development of Hope\'s proven ratchet mechanism. This features a one piece 7075 aluminium rotor body and pawl carrier. Four pawls engage into a twenty-four tooth steel ratchet which is fixed into the hub shell and is sealed with a frictionless, non contact labyrinth seal. The axle runs on four cartridge bearings. The hub shell is machined from a solid billet of 2014 T6 aluminium.

Headset:

The Hope ZS Tapered headset is an integral (or Zero Stack) headset with cups that fit within the height of the headtube- 1 1/8" bearing at the top and a 1.5" bearing at the fork crown. The bearings themselves are STAINLESS STEEL and are replaceable. The cups, taper ring and crown race (which is now split for easy installation and removal) are all machined aluminium. Sealed with an adjustable taper ring cover and integrated rubber seal. The bearings also incorporate their own sealing, and being made from stainless steel resist corrosion and it&rsquos by products much better than a conventional steel bearing.

Maxle:

Simple and secure, the Maxle Swingarm is a great upgrade to any Five. Effectively offering Quick release functionality with the performance of a bolt-thru rear end. Not for everyone, but if you like to hustle your Five, it\'s well worthwhile.

Performance Pack:

The Thomson X4 seatpost is simply the best seatpost out there. Strong, light and reassuringly expensive. You get what you pay for.

The Thomson X4 Stem is absolutely the best combination of strength and weight available. Thomson stems are the strongest in the industry, meaning freeride and downhill riders can run Thomson confidently.

Rear Shocks:

The Cane Creek Double Barrel is one of those few components that causes a genuine stir in the mountain bike world. It’s quietly come onto the scene and blown everything else out of the water. No crazy graphics or showy dials, it quietly gets on with annihilating the trail and every other shock you’ve ever ridden.

The key to the success of the Double Barrel shock is Öhlins’ Twin Tube technology. This system pumps oil through a continuous circuit allowing full control of both rebound and compression movements. Circulating the oil through the valving instead of the main piston allows independent remote adjustment not possible on other shocks. External adjustment eradicates the need for expensive custom tunes and allows easy setup according to track or weather conditions.

UST Wheel:

The Conti Mountain King 2.2 UST is Just about the perfect do it all tyre. Great tread pattern works well in all conditions. The lower rotating weight of the tubeless system means faster accelerations and better grip from lower pressures. We think you\'ll love them.

The 2.2 version is perfect for fast trail riding and XC racing.

Mavic XM819 UST: The reference UST (Universal Standard for Tubeless) disc rim. Tubeless rim and tyre combination that can bring more bike control, a better grip and traction off road and less pinch flats. Mavic\'s rims have always led the performance envelope. This one is no different. A UST rim done properly. If you want to run tubeless tyres this is the way.
