IXS Downhill Cup win for Cathro

With the UCI IXS cup coming to the UK for the first time it was good to see a host of the World Cup racers making a stop off on their way to Fort William for a shake down. It also gave the rebuilt track at Innerleithen an international showcase. In Satuday's timed practice runs junior Lewis Buchanan upset the field by setting the fastest men's time. Ben Cathro had a quiet day in comparison, no doubt with thoughts of team Boss Stu's wedding on his mind, and particulalry how he mustn't overdo things! All this meant that Cathro had an early start, he had a blinding run and set a time of 2.57 and sat down in the Red Bull hot-seat, where he remained for the rest of the afternoon. Not a bad place to be sat with a hangover! Ben's Elite MTBcut team mate Joe Barnes placed in 14th and Chris Hutchens riding for Transcend Orange can on 23rd.
