Overview

Game Changer

The Alpine 6 replaces the much loved Alpine 160 in our range. This new frame is the Alpine 160 re-engineered and we’ve revamped every aspect of the bike's performance.

The Alpine 6 is designed around 170mm front/160mm rear travel. We’ve slackened the head angle half a degree to keep the same alpine handling feel we love, yet make the most of the fork’s extra 10mm.

The compact rear end we debuted on the Four model makes its way to the Alpine 6, shortening the chainstay significantly by 9mm. The repositioned pivot also means that the whole rear triangle is more compact and more active. With the shock now effectively lowered in the chassis, the ramp-up effect is improved, and feedback from test riders has been nothing but positive. With even less flex in the rear, it's more active over small bumps and inspires confidence over the really rough stuff.

Even with the shortening of the rear triangle, other small changes in the frame construction mean that we retain a long and stable wheelbase along with the long top-tube/short stem model we love.

With neat finishing touches like internal cable routing, every element of the frame’s construction has been analysed and optimised, to the point that, size for size, the Alpine 6 frame is significantly lighter than its predecessor.

While we have done everything we can to keep the Alpine 6 the same as the Alpine 160, everything has changed – and we think you’re going to love it.

Overview

The Alpine 6 is the de-facto big mountain leveller. Engineered to perform in the roughest mountain terrain.

The Alpine 6 geometry is designed around 170mm front/160mm rear travel. With its slacker 64.5° head angle matched to the 170mm fork we get that alpine handling feel we all love; confident, unflappable and most importantly, fun.

With neat finishing touches like internal cable routing, every element of the frame’s construction has been analysed and optimised, to the point that, size for size, the Alpine 6 frame is significantly lighter and stronger than its predecessors.

One of our most popular models and it's easy to see why. Whether in the heat of competition, or simply being ridden for laughs, the Alpine 6 has that spirit we love in a bike, the ability to surge through the rough stuff and rewards the rider that pushes hard.

2019 Alpine 6 RS Shown in Fizzy Orange

Overview

The Challenge: How do we go about updating a bike in our range whose legion of fans don't want us to change anything?
The answer, as with everything we do, is with great care and a stack of test feedback.

The new Alpine 6 has been through one of the most intensive prototyping programs we've ever done – the result is spectacular.

With the introduction of the 230mm metric shock, we have revised the suspension layout to increase the rear travel. We've also tuned the frame to be more progressive to retain a bottomless feel and improve small bump smoothness, treading that fine line that keeps wallow at bay and gives the Alpine 6 all the control it needs.

The geometry has also been under the microscope and refined to match the new suspension performance, resulting in more agility, stability and confident speed.

When you come upon one of those unholy beasts of a trail, this is the bike to take it on at full-gas and tame it.
