Crush RS

RRP from: £2,000.00

Overview

The Five’s tag team partner, the Crush is much more than just another hardcore hardtail.

Never happier than when being used as a sledgehammer to crack the line on big mountain trails the Crush wrestles singletrack and smashes corners like a champ with its 27.5inch wheels and 140mm of travel.

We don’t see hardtails as second class bikes we see them as first class fun that’s why we’ve made sure we’ve baked in our acclaimed Orange feel, with geometry that gives confidence and thrills all of the time, just as you’d find on our full suspension models. The Crush punches compromise right in the face.

It’s not all about the downs though, the Crush is just as capable at storming the climbs too thanks to a tough but light aluminium chassis. Internal dropper routing also means the transitions between ups and the downs can be dealt with at speed too.

Whether you’re going up, down or even sideways the Crush will smash it all.

Overview

Up, down or even sideways the Crush will smash it all

The steadfast Orange Crush gets a major update for 2016. We've taken the frame we love and pushed the features forward to up the fun factor without upsetting the function.

Most obviously, the rear triangle now features a bolt-through axle, adding even more stability to what was already a rigid design. A confident handling 66° headangle along with the Crush's new longer toptube design that adds an extra few millimetres means, size for size, a 50mm stem puts the rider right where they need to be (with tuning to taste as required, of course) for direct input and weight distribution. While shorter chainstays make climbing a tad sweeter, tyre clearance has been increased so that a chunky 2.4 tyre fits nicely.

While those are the headline new features, deeper into the detail we added some really nice touches too. The seat clamp slot has been moved so that it faces away from the direct path of wheel spray. The headtube is a more compact 44mm version, and cable routing is kept neat and tidy with minimised cable bosses tucked sweetly under the toptube. While at first glance this is still the Crush we know and love, so many small features have been carefully considered, we might have called it Crush MkII.

But some things don't change and that's the Crush's indefatigable attitude. Built tough to be ridden hard, the Crush will hold it's own just about anywhere, but really excels on the rough stuff. With geometry to suit a 140mm travel fork, this hardtail gives no quarter to seemingly tougher full-suspension bikes, in the right hands the Crush will slay everything that lies before it.

Overview

Up, down or even sideways the Crush will smash it all

The steadfast Orange Crush frame gets a geometry update for 2017. We've taken the frame we love and pushed the features forward to up the fun factor without upsetting the function. We've slackened the head angle to 65° and optimised the the numbers for a 150mm travel fork, meaning you can push the Crush that little bit harder again.

Everything that made the last version great has come along for the ride. The rear triangle features a bolt-through axle for stability and strength. the Crush's long toptube design that adds an extra few millimetres means, size for size, a 50mm stem puts the rider right where they need to be (with tuning to taste as required, of course) for direct input and weight distribution. While its short chainstays make climbing a tad sweeter, tyre clearance means a chunky 2.4 tyre fits nicely.

While those are the headline new features, deeper into the detail we added some really nice touches too. The seat clamp slot has been moved so that it faces away from the direct path of wheel spray. Overview

The Orange Crush is a bike you don't want to mess with. It's loved and revered, with award winning performance, it's the definitive aluminium hardcore hardtail. So for 2018, with the exception of a push to 148 boost spacing and a slight reshape of the stays to allow big volume tyre fans to satisfy their cravings, we've left it well alone.

The geometry is bang on point, the rear triangle features a bolt-through axle, giving unparalled stability to what is already a rigid design. The confident handling 65° head angle along with the Crush’s long top tube design that adds an extra few millimetres means, size for size, a 50mm stem puts the rider right where they need to be for direct input and weight distribution. Short chainstays make climbing as sweet as ever for a long forked hardtail, those stays now reshaped to allow clearance for a more than chunky 2.6 tyre.

The Crush’s unshakeable attitude is as strong as ever. Built tough to be ridden hard, where it really excels, on the rough stuff.
