Here is the information you need to check your forks: orangebikes.co.uk/rx9_fork_recall
This is important information for all Orange BIkes customer who have purchased an Orange RX9. A number of Orange RX9 bikes were made with forks, which have a potential risk of breaking. Under certain circumstances the fork steerer tube can become disconnected from the rest of the fork.
While we have had no critical failures, we have had two instances of the steerer becoming detached from the rest of the fork. This occured after the owners reported the forks making a creaking sound and where the forks were removed for inspection.
A number of other forks suffering from a creaking sound have been reported to us. This has led us to issue this recall.
The safety of our customers is very important to us. Therefore if you are the owner of an Orange RX9 please do not ride your RX9 bicycle until the fork has been checked and you are certain it is safe to use.
We understand the inconvenience this will cause to you as an RX9 owner. We apologise for this but would like to reassure our customers we are acting in the interest of your safety.
The affected forks may be fitted to any RX9 bike sold since the release of the model in April 2013.

The No Fuss organised Tour de Ben Nevis is a true challenge however you look at it. There’s more to it than a straight out single lap sprint though. Along the way there are special timed stages, the combination of the points earned on these stages with your finish time is what will dictate your overall standing. As previously stated, Orange Bikes' Michael Bonney was severely injured in a cycling accident while taking part in the Eden Valley Epic Sportive on Sunday 3rd March. He received outstanding emergency medical treatment at the roadside and was transported to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle by air ambulance.
At the RVI he was diagnosed with a broken neck and is undergoing treatment for this extremely serious injury and is making positive progress. Michael and his family have been overwhelmed by the incredible amount of heartfelt messages of support and would like to thank all his friends from the cycle industry and beyond for their ongoing encouragement.
Michael's road to recovery is going to be long and bumpy but he is tackling that with his legendary Geordie grit and determination. Today he has been moved to the spinal injury unit at the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesborough to receive specialist care for the next leg of this journey.
Original Post: Tuesday 5th March.
On Sunday, Michael Bonney, the lynchpin in all that is Orange, had a terrible accident whilst road cycling during the Eden Valley Epic. No vehicles were involved.
He was airlifted to Newcastle hospital where he remains in a very critical condition.
As most of you will be aware, Michael is an extremely popular person with a huge amount of friends, and it's impossible to pass on this news individually. Linzi has already been inundated with best wishes and its impossible for her to reply individually, so as he is a big advocate to social media, and after speaking with Linzi, we will keep you up-to-date through our Facebook page.
