Fort William World Cup, the randoms…

June 10 2011

Turning up in the pits is a great opportunity to meet the usual suspects and chat about the scene. Beyond the racing, there are always interesting people, stories and things to look at. Here are a few final shots to finish up the weekend report...

Orange Bikes 225 Chris Hutchens Cycle Jersey

Hutchens rocking the Irn-Bru coloured CycleJersey/Orange kit...

Chris Hutchens always makes the short trip to Fort William, he's an awesome rider and a regular on the podium in the UK. Hutch didn't do quite enough to take him through to the finals, but it was great to see him in action and looking good on the bike. Loads more racing in the summer, hopefully we'll see much more of Chris on the news pages in the months to come.

Ben Cathro 29er Orange Bikes

Ben Cathro putting 29er wheels all in proportion...

The pit bike of choice this weekend was a bright orange 29er XC build. There are no plans to produce it just yet, we're just playing around with those wagon wheels...

Orange Bikes Danny MacAskill Orange Patriot

Danny Mac and his new toy, colour's the hardest choice...

Danny loves to play around on the mountain bike, a fancy new Patriot should keep him bouncing around for awhile. If you can't wait to see one built up, here's a pic we took earlier...

Orange Patriot Fort William World Cup

The Patriot in all its glory, looking suh-weet...

The Patriot rumours have been flying around for a few months now, turns out Joe Barnes likes it a lot! If you haven't already seen his testing video, check it out here...

Orange Bikes Doddy Fort William

Smidge lurker as Doddy talks 29ers...

The guys from Smidge were on hand for all our repellant needs, we've stashed enough of their wares to protect us for the rest of the summer. We also discovered Doddy from MBUK is a stalwart 29er advocist, tech editor Rob Weaver is just out of shot on this one, looked like he'd heard the spiel before. Looking forward to see what they think of the proto...

Orange Bikes Adam Proctor Ben Chennells Dave Flynn Jono Sykes

Heading up to Laggan, a perk of the 'job'...

When the day's over everyone leaves for beer or riding, we all headed up to Laggan on Friday night. Jono was bouncing around on a Cane Creek Double Barrel air shock, that thing rocks, we can't say much more...

Orange Bikes Fort William Lowe Pro

Long way up...

What's the quickest way of getting your photo equipment back to the factory? Tim Sadler at Lowe Pro supplying the goods for Orange's Michael Bonney.

That's it over for another year, thanks to everyone who came along to say hello, the riders, marshals, organisers, everyone involved in making the weekend fun. Another great year at Fort Bill, roll on next time...
