Orange G4 S hits Cycle-Scheme target
February 24 2011
The Orange G4 S is a limited edition spec designed to hit the full Cycle-Scheme allowance squarely on the head. The Pure7 has filled the steel niche, but with the G3 model priced at £849, we needed something aluminium to maximise bang for the buck at the £1000 threshold. The G4 S features the same 10-speed, Avid braked component package as its bigger brother, but with a Rock Shox Tora TK fork. Retailing at £999.99 and available in limited numbers, the G4 S offers a lightweight aluminium alternative to the more trail oriented cro-mo hard hitter, the steel framed Pure7.
Highlight features at a glance:
- Double butted 6061-T6 tubing
The frame is half a pound lighter than its predecessor; using the same signature wishbone stays its lateral stiffness but compliant ride characteristics remain, ideal for proper mountain biking or gearing up for the daily commute.
- Shimano 10-speed
Using a mixture of 10-speed Shimano SLX and XT, the G4 uses the newest batch of iterative improvements the new Dyna-Sys shifting system brings.
- Rockshox Tora TK
The Tora TK features stiff 32mm uppers, easily and externally adjustable preload, rebound and a full lockout.
- Avid Elixir 3
Tapered Bore technology brings increased power and modulation, with tool free reach adjust allowing easy customisation. Sure stoppers.
- Everything else…
RaceFace Ride provides a high quality finishing kit, with the SDG Bel Air a proven perch for any mountain biker. Mavic rims, DT Swiss Competition spokes, Shimano 525 hubs and Continental rubber keeps things rolling smoothly, long into the future.
