A day in the life of Ben Cathro

Ben Cathro is synonymous with the Scottish downhill scene and one of the UK's fastest riders. As a racer he has always been daring with 'loose' line choices and a tendancy for big air. Since the Mojo/Orange days, there's been a lot of happy memories and iconic imagery, from the Fort William skinsuit controversy right through to this year's top ten at the La Bresse World Cup. So what's it like being Ben Cathro for a day?

Ben Cathro morning call

Mornings don't figure on Cathro's radar...

Stuz Leel is documenting the Scottish scene and the riders that contribute to make it such a powerful platform for progression and general good times. In Part I we see Ronan Taylor ripping through the woods, and the Fort William SDA with Cathro and McGlone rocking their proto 322 frames. Part II moves to Killin before a rider section with Joe Connell. Episode III is all Cathro, lots of PS3 action...

Ben Cathro PS3 MX Versus ATV

Where Cathro really learnt his skills, MX versus ATV...

Ben Cathro is a great rider who can move a downhill bike around like a BMX, but seeing him fly on his 20-inch Orange Five brings even more inspiration. Lots of people ride 140mm travel trail bikes and most of us have some muddy local woods to slide around in. Watch this film, then if you have a spare couple of hours, go out and get sideways...

Ben will be concentrating on getting a new company running into 2013 and going back to racing purely on the UK downhill circuit, coupled with the odd Enduro style events to keep the fitness honed. If you want to know what the next step is for Ben, take a read into this insight on Descent World.

Massive thanks to MTBcut, Ben Cathro and Stuz Leel.
